Tax Operations Manager

Amazon is seeking a Manager to join the Brazil Tax Operations Team. This role will manage execution of the tax identity collection, withholding, information reporting and other transactional tax procedures. This operations role will partner with senior leadership to consult on Brazilian Tax Law relative to the Finance Operations team. This person will be expected to take ownership, identify process improvement opportunities for existing processes and controls and drive positive change in the organization. This role will also support external and internal partners on special projects to operationalize new tax legislation and to launch new businesses in Brazil.

The key responsibilities include:
* Translate, global and local tax identity collection, withholding and reporting requirements into functional requirements that are implemented in platforms with Amazon security and government standards.
* Manage implementation of and ensure the roll out of supporting financial and reporting systems/ platforms are compliant and efficient from a withholding and information reporting perspective, including training employees as required
* Prepare and review tax payments slips for all taxes due by Amazon entities
* Execute tax payments timely
* Calculate and pay withholding and transactional taxes levied on any procurement (including, but not limited to vendors, intercompany agreements and any other local or cross-border charges)
* Prepare and submit on time the “Informe de Rendimentos” form to Amazon´s vendors
* Generate, when required, self-invoicing (such as NFTS) for all existent establishments that procure services
* Validate and check tax information related to vendors, such as Tax IDs (inscriptions numbers and status), as well as good standing certificates (CNDs)
* Maintain 'Bill To' address information
* Validate and check vendors invoices (inventory, services, assets and internal consumption)
* Develop, document and educate internal and external (including vendors) stakeholders on tax-operational requirements, policies and procedures
* Support audits and information requests from internal and external partners
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or Tax Law
* Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance/tax experience
* Strong background in Brazilian indirect taxes (ICMS, PIS/COFINS, ISS, IRRF, Import Taxes, IPI, etc.) and withholding and information reporting compliance, preferably for a multinational organization
* Experience in Accounts Payable
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
* Proficiency with Excel/Oracle/Hyperion Essbase/Cognos
* Strong accounting, analytical, and tax research skills
* Strong project management and organization skills
* Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
* Experience in public accounting and international indirect tax experience preferred
* Chartered Accountant Certification a plus
* Experience working with tax compliance software such as GTCE, Vertex, ONESOURCE, Synchro, Siscoserv
* Work experience in supporting audit defense
* Fluency in Portuguese, English or Spanish
