Senior Backend Developer

About Safety Squad

Our squad is accountable for passengers and drivers safety. We deal with challenging situations on a daily basis and our job is to address them through data analysis, machine learning and technology applied on safety. Ready to frustrate the bad guys? Join us!

About this position:

You will be part of a team which primary concern is about safety for passenger and drivers. We are working very hard to prevent robbery, discrimination, harassment and any kind of physical or psychological violence. You will be handling any bugs, provide workarounds, and escalate unresolved issues to the development team. Your work is key to the success of making transportation better to everyone. This position requires both strong technical and communication skills.

You will deal with:

150+ servers in AWS cloud

500k+ requests per minute

Many distributed and complex systems

Real impact in thousands of lives

Languages: Scala, Java, Javascript, GoLang (and many others)

Frameworks: Play, Akka, Quill

Databases: MySQL, Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearch, HBase

Big Data: Hadoop, HBase, Spark, Kafka

Cloud: AWS, Docker, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda

Tools: Splunk, NewRelic, Tableau, Kibana

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Be adaptive and productive working on different projects, languages
  • Learn and develop systems in any sensible language/framework that’s best for the job
  • Develop and maintain systems using Scala, Java
  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture, solutions architecture
  • Implement challenging parts of the 99's ecosystem

What we're looking for:

  • Someone really concerned about others, this job deals with lifes .
  • Result oriented and data driven mindset
  • Software development experience with solid knowledge of large ­scale systems using Java/Scala
  • Experience building and scaling complex high-performance, high-transaction applications
  • Must have excellent technical understanding of client­ server fundamentals and enterprise architecture patterns, not only REST
  • Must have technical understanding of different databases and its uses (MySQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch, Cassandra)
  • Knowledge in cloud native solutions - AWS (ex: EC2, Beanstalk, SQS, SNS, Load Balancer, RDS, Dynamo)
  • Knowledge and preferably experience with Big Data infrastructure, such as Hadoop, Spark
  • Knowledge and preferably experience with the reactive programming paradigm, streaming systems such as Kafka Solid Java or Scala programming skills
  • Solid test oriented approaches to solve business problems

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems (IS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Have been tested other protocols than HTTP - Thrift, MQTT
  • Interested in math and algorithms

    Prós: Ambiente descontraído, uma empresa para ser explorada e ganhar conhecimento, empresas com todo tipo de profissional, sem discriminação de gêneros.
