Principal Engineering Manager

We are looking for a talented Engineer lead who understands the online and/or search landscape and has proven abilities to delivering a competitive Bing product for Brazil by engaging peer engineering teams and Brazilian 3rd party partners to leverage Bing?s rich full technology stack. As part of a geo distributed engineering team, you?ll be working with teams around the world to align our efforts for the benefit of the Brazil market as well as lead the engineering team in Brazil to deliver compelling experiences that impact search products and local partners that use Bing?s technology platform. Key Accountabilities Align with other teams o Align with other global partner engineering teams to ensure a solid market and product plan for Brazil Contribute to the Product Roadmap for Brazil o Explore, design and build compelling new features o Foster partnership ecosystem in Brazil by co designing and building differentiating experiences that impacts partner businesses Drive Product Health o Drive Product Health improvements via Brazil engineering team and in collaboration with other global engineering teams. Drive 3rd party partnerships o Drive 3rd partner engagements to deliver integrated solutions using Bing and Cortana technology. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Experience Proven experience in managing software engineering teams Proven experience in delivering software solutions in a software engineering role Proven capability to deeply engage with customers/partners and build a collaborative working relationship with engineering and design Experienced in defining clear goals, setting expectations and leading multiple concurrent projects to success Technical/Functional Skills Strong analytical, technical and data-driven decision making skills Understand end-customers implicit and explicit needs through analysis of multiple data sources, with experience in translating and representing those to key stakeholders who can action them Familiarity with development best practices such as source control, bug tracking and agile development methodologies. Knowledge and experience in various Internet search problem domains (big data, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, statistical and probabilistic data analysis etc.) Personal Attributes/Interpersonal Skills A proven ability to cut through ambiguity and shape outcomes Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills A detail-oriented, agile, and pragmatic thinker with the ability to handle a diverse number of concurrent activities and team interactions Self-critical, with good empathy, and shows a drive for results 5+ years? experience in engineering roles (SE, PM) as well as leading engineering teams are essential components of this position 4+ years? experience in online product development/Search Product experience is strongly preferred B.Sc / MS degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is strongly preferred. Strong Written and Verbal communication skills Team being located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, fluency in English and Portuguese are required
