What are some examples of problems a software engineer will solve?

Shipping valuable features requires close coordination between devops, database, API, frontend, and mobile workstreams; Nubank engineers commonly pair and rotate focus between these responsibilities. We consistently work with new technologies, and thus value professionals who are open to learning new things, regardless of pre-existing comfort zones. Nubank mobile software engineers might solve any of the following problems:
* Ship new features for the mobile apps using modern languages like Swift and Kotlin
* Take reactive architectures to the next level
* Triage bugs and exceptions reported in production
* Have the opportunity to build backend micro-services in functional programming languages, such as Clojure and Scala

Requirements

You must have:

  • 5+ years of experience coding in relevant projects specially with OO languages
  • Knowledge in software architecture
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent TDD and test automation skills (testing - Unit tests, instrumental tests / KIF, Nimble, SwiftCheck, Spoon, Espresso, Mockito)
  • Passion for mobile technology and high quality engineering
  • Curiosity and a desire to be responsible for all aspects of building Nubank's product in a small, highly focused, and very rapidly growing team
  • Multi-threaded application development
  • Proficient in Kotlin and/or Swift - That's ok if you are not familiar with these languages, you will learn fast

  • Understanding and curiosity in creating well thought out mobile infrastructure, SDKs, open source projects, and APIs.

  • Knowledge on Clean Architecture concepts

  • Deep knowledge of SOLID principles

  • Excellent software engineering aptitude and the ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance

  • Memory management and performance tuning

  • Attention to detail - a pixel perfect eye

  • Custom UI and animation

  • Knowledge of reactive extensions (RxJava, RxSwift)

Engineering or computer science undergraduate degree and English language skills are helpful.

    Prós: Os benefícios são muito bons. Plano de saúde muito bom, VR de R$30 por dia, etc. Infraestrutura também boa. Ambiente de trabalho com muitas mulheres e homossexuais, é um lugar que busca ser inclusivo. Há sistema de apoio psicológico, há oferta de massagem gratuita mensal.

    Contras: Pressão e cobrança desumana sobre o funcionário em bater suas "métricas", seu padrão de desempenho. Controlador e cobrança demais sobre o funcionário. Cultura da empresa quer que você se apaixone pela empresa e pela marca. É bizarro. Muita concorrência e intriga para promoções. Ambiente de trabalho tão jovem e informal que chega a ser meio imaturo algumas vezes. Apesar dos bons benefícios, o salário é baixo para quem tem esse cargo de Xpeer. Horário nadíssima flexível. Extremamente rígidos com horários. Ganha-se pouco para trabalhar muito. E não pode reclamar, por que tem que amar a empresa.

    Prós: A agilidade com que as coisas acontecem. Aqui, é possível se envolver em diversos projetos. Claro, que caibam na sua rotina além das suas obrigações. O dinamismo é um ponto interessante para quem não gosta do comodismo. Você pode conhecer pessoas e trabalhar com diferentes equipes a qualquer momento, opinar e ser ouvido por diferentes pessoas.

    Contras: Por enquanto, como ainda está no início, parece que faltam oportunidades para que a nossa formação acadêmica seja utilizada em nosso trabalho. Não necessariamente como nosso escopo principal, já que optamos por trabalhar com o nosso cargo, mas talvez pudesse haver um grupo de pessoas com formação X trabalhando num projeto Y. Isso permitiria que nós ajudássemos, já que todos aqui têm uma boa formação, além de contribuir com um trabalho que tem a ver conosco.
