Trainee Developers (Cupcaker Program)

Cheesecake Labs is a web/mobile development and design company headquartered in Florianópolis - Brazil, but with a solid integration with the Silicon Valley, in the US. We make partnership with startups with great disruption potential - and we develop mobile and web solutions for them.

We are looking for Junior Devs and Technical Trainees in Florianópolis/SC who are interested in working with our projects in partnership with Silicon Valley, joining international and multidisciplinary teams.

This program is divided into 2 basic steps:

1 - Once applied to this position, you'll have access to a Slack group and a WIKI where you can follow our guidelines on how to develop your skills on our stack.

2 - Upon hiring, you'll have the opportunity to work with the technologies below, according to your area:
Backend Developer:
** - Python backend frameworks (Django, Flask, Bottle, etc);
* Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, SQS, EB, CodeDeploy, etc) or PaaS services (Heroku, Openshift);
* SQL DBMS (MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB);
* development of REST APIs;
* clusters, microservices and containers
Front End Dev:
** - Responsive websites developed in HTML5+CSS3 and JavaScript
* Node.js and React.JS
* Wordpress and SEO
* Sketch App and/or Zeplin;
* Web Frameworks on Python (Django or Flask);
Android Dev:**
* Native development with Java + Kotlin
* Gradle, SQLite and ORM for Android
* Trendiest libs and technologies on Github
iOS Developer:**
* Native development in Swift 3.0
* Database (Realm) and dependencies management (CocoaPods)
* Design and iOS' Interface Guidelines
* Trendiest libs and technologies on Github

This is a position located on our cool Florianopolis/SC office.

    Prós: O ambiente de trabalho, a cultura da empresa, a cozinha, a sala de descanso, o yoga, a sala de jogos, mesa de sinuca, e diversas outros perks são muito bons.

    Contras: Como a empresa possui diversos clientes as vezes as estimativas saem erradas e fica complicado de cumprir com as datas de entrega, porem isso parece normal na industria de software.

    Prós: Uma cultura de colaboração onde é possível aprender com seus colegas. A cada quarter as pessoas preparam uma série de workshops sobre os mais diversos assuntos. Boa localização. Mentorias, quando bem executadas, tem resultados muito bons sobre o crescimento dos funcionários.

    Contras: Salários abaixo da média do mercado. Falta de uma visão estratégica para a empresa a longo prazo. Dificuldade de passar feedbacks fundamentados que possibilitem a evolução profissional. Infelizmente, quando existem, são muito rasos. Ambiente de muita pressão, pouca meritocracia e pouco saudável. Funcionários coagidos a responderem pesquisas de clima para entrarem no ranking do Great Places To Work.

    Conselhos para presidência: Ouvir mais o que os funcionários tem a dizer, pois as pessoas se sentem parte de algo maior. Perder o hábito de "cortar a cabeça" de quem tem opinião e ouvir um pouco mais. Esse é o segredo para reter talentos. Fazer com que as pessoas se sintam ouvidas, e não fazer o medo reinar. Transparência sobre os rumos que a empresa está tomando e sobre o que se espera de cada um valem muito mais do que ser transparente sobre os "gastos da cozinha" por exemplo. Nunca esquecer que se lida com pessoas. Aprender a dar feedback. Isso faz uma diferença absurda pra que as pessoas não saiam daí com má impressão.
