Build & Integration Manager

This role will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and managing all the regional Microsoft infrastructure and technology deployment services associated with our leased and build datacenter facilities in South America. This will include engaging related Microsoft vendors that perform design and implementation services related to our Corporate Network (CorpNet), Management Network, and Production Network systems; as well as the telecommunications infrastructure to support these systems.

This role will coordinate the demarcation of labor and equipment procurement between cross-functional teams including: Microsoft stakeholders, Data Center Operations, and numerous system vendors supporting the data center fit out process.

The Build & Integration Manager will ensure positive engagement across teams for all phases of the project from kick-off to close-out. They will track and ensure successful completion of all tasks and milestones related to the colo fit out and final facility turnover and acceptance to the Global Data Center Operations (GDCO) team.

The candidate will be responsible for developing detailed plans and provide the appropriate project management of the build and integration scopes of work inclusive of: processing Purchase Orders (POs), managing change orders (Cos) and invoicing requirements.

Coordinate project meetings, site visits, trip reports, and meeting minutes to ensure proper coordination and record keeping leading to overall project success.

The applicant must be able to collaborate across functional boundaries to support the overall team and project success, while being able to identify, track and manage project level risks and provide the appropriate level of awareness to the End-to-End (E2E) Project Managers, associated stakeholders and the Date Center Execution (DCX) Leadership Team throughout all phases of the mitigation process.

The candidate must be able to communicate in a consistence manner for program level messages with a clear understanding of the decisions and changes.

They must be able to create project level status reports and deliver presentations to senior management as necessary.

Ensure proper alignment and implementation of all project and program level processes enabling better team coordination, consistent program delivery, and clearly defined project expectations across the larger project team.

The Ideal candidate would have technical and working knowledge of various IT systems, infrastructures and operational requirements which may or may not be typical within all data center environments. This person will be expected to be well versed in current industry standards and best practices. Persons with multi industry experience from Industrial, Telco, and various Data Center relevant industries would be a plus.

This candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-past environment and embrace change as key determinant of continuous improvement.

Data Center Technology and Experience

Significant management experience in a production, mission-critical, revenue-dependent, 24x7 data center environment.

Experience and theoretical based understanding of the different concepts of data center design including: network topology, mechanical and electrical reliability, and Operations.

Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and documents is essential.

Good understanding of and feeling for data center costs, and how the mechanical design impacts CAPEX and OPEX. Experience in vendor management, ability to manage and monitor progress to ensure objectives are achieved for outsourced maintenance and projects.

Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects. Ability to balance competing demands for resources and adapt to changing priorities.

Proven ability to deliver projects on-time and adherence to deadlines.

Proven ability to motivate disparate teams both direct and indirect to solve issues.

Proven ability and understanding of budgetary and financial processes.

Proven ability to apply clear critical thinking in complex, stressful situations.

Have experience managing computer rack electrical branch circuits and have methods of reducing the cost of branch circuit installation.

Understand the efficiency gains from single phase vs multi-phase power.

Understand what it takes to achieve Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2 or lower. Real world experience in this area a plus.

Have a working understanding of copper and fiber cabling including Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Multimode and Single mode ribbon cable assemblies, MPO / MTP connectors.

The manager should understand equipment handling and weights and working with heavy equipment on a raised floor. Experience working in a seismically active facility a plus.

Verifiable hands-on technical work experience required.

Knowledgeable about data center space allocation and effective utilization of all the resources in the facility including floor space, electrical, mechanical, and data infrastructure.

Experience with Data Center Emergency Operation Procedures (EOPs) and day-to-day data center operations best practices.

Experience working with local suppliers and local governmental agencies.

Travel will be involved, however much of the support must occur remotely via virtual teams.

Communication and Management Skills / Experience

Must be a dedicated team player with a desire to work in a diverse team environment.

Requires excellent inter-personal, communication and presentation skills.

Proven ability to influence and manage virtual teams, while ensuring the proper engagement across the cross-functional team environment.

Proven track record as a strong Team-builder and leader.

Verified track record of both internal and external vendor management in maintenance based contracts.

Established track record in process and procedure development and execution.

Provide meaningful and timely reporting for weekly success metrics.

Proven success and experience in recruiting, promoting, training, disciplinary actions, and other basic management functions.

Must be able to provide leadership and direction to numerous project stakeholders concurrently.
